Slippery wintry roads are being reported across northeast, South Dakota mainly north of Watertown and east of Aberdeen. At 8:50pm CST, the South Dakota Department of Transportation (SDDOT) reported from the South Shore exit and towards the north on Interstate 29, the highway is snow covered with scattered ice and slippery spots. The area is currently observing some light snow, freezing drizzle and freezing fog.
The northeast is not alone as US Highway 14 west of Pierre and back toward the Philip area, SDDOT is reporting numerous areas of ice and very slippery conditions. SDDOT has reported that they have suspended winter maintenance for the night and are asking motorists to reduce their speed.
