022420E

Winter Storm Warnings and Winter Weather Advisories are in effect for the western half of the state for today and into Tuesday.  More information about the weather alerts can be found at our Weather Alerts page.

Snow will start to spread across the region today and continue into Tuesday morning.  Snow amounts will be from two to five inches across the plains of western, South Dakota.  The northern Black Hills where a Winter Storm Warning is in effect, snow amounts from 8 to 20 inches of snow is possible!

Snow amounts will be lighter across central, South Dakota where one to three inches are possible and across the east, lower amounts of one inch or less is expected.

Besides the snow, strong northerly winds up to 45mph will create areas of blowing snow and reduce visibilities.  If you are planning on travel, use extreme caution.
