IOWA - As we continue to move closer to Christmas, many people in South Dakota have been asking if we will have a white or brown Christmas. The same does not hold true in Iowa.
At first, a storm system that looked to impact South Dakota earlier this week had moved south, affecting Nebraska and Iowa. This storm has already dropped a couple of inches of snow and caused issues on roadways.
The Des Moines Police Department posted this image on social media about a fatal crash at the 1600 block of Southeast 14th Street. The city is under a Winter Weather Advisory for the day where an additional one inch of snow is possible.
Towards the east, The city of Dubuque is placed under a Winter Storm Warning as the region is expected to receive six to nine inches of total snowfall.
This storm system is forecast to continue northeast, impacting southern Wisconsin and northern Michigan.
