The Big Sioux River located just outside of Castlewood in Hamlin County went from 7.56 feet on August 17th at 5:15pm to 10.11 feet on August 19th at 4:30am.  At this location, flood stage starts at 9 feet.

Downstream near Brookings, the Big Sioux River was sitting at 7.49 feet at 8:30pm on August 17th and then jumped to 10.21 feet at 2:30pm on August 20th, almost reaching moderate flood stage.

Luckily with drier weather during the work week, the Big Sioux River has dropped under flood stage once again.
