SOUTH DAKOTA - Today bring a risk for isolated strong to severe thunderstorms across the northern, western and central regions of the state. The best risk for severe weather will be into North Dakota and northwest, South Dakota.
Thunderstorm develop is forecast near a surface trough that will be located across eastern Montana and into northeast, South Dakota. Southwest winds along a deeping low level lapse will create instability in the region.
With hot temperatures forecast today, a capping effect may occur and prevent thunderstorms to develop over South Dakota. If thunderstorms do develop, some of these may become strong with damaging winds and large hail.
