SOUTH DAKOTA - Once again, thunderstorm development is expected across South Dakota today along with the risk for severe thunderstorms. At this time, the best risk for severe thunderstorm will be across much of the state with a lesser chance in far northeast and far southeast corners of the state.
The main threat will be large hail, damaging winds and heavy rains. A tornado or two cannot be ruled out with the highest risk for such activity will be across northwest, South Dakota.
Looking ahead, the risk for severe weather continues in Tuesday and Wednesday. For Tuesday, the chances of severe storms run from southwest, South Dakota up towards northeast, South Dakota with the best risk across northwest and north-central regions of the state.
Wednesday shifts the severe weather risk across eastern, South Dakota and into south-central, South Dakota. At this time, forecasts are showing the best chances of severe storms to be east of the James River Valley.
