Two Killed On South Dakota Roads

Two people lost their lives in two different accidents, Saturday morning.

According to the Watertown Police Department, a tow operator was struck and killed during an accident at around 8:35am CST, Saturday Morning.  The agency reports that responders from the Watertown Police Department, Codington County Sheriff's Office, South Dakota Highway Patrol, and the Watertown Fire Department and Rescue were all called to the scene.

The driver of a vehicle that was traveling on a city street had lost control, struck the tow operator who was assisting another motorist on the road.

The incident remains under investigation by the Watertown Police Department and the South Dakota Highway Patrol.

Later that morning, another fatal accident occurred shortly before 10:30am CST in Moody County.  The South Dakota Department of Public Safety stated that a 60-year-old man was fatally killed in a crash on Interstate 29 west of Flandreau.

A vehicle pulling a trailer was traveling north on the interstate when the driver had lost control of the vehicle after hitting a patch of ice.  The vehicle then went into the median where it rolled.

The driver of the vehicle was not wearing a seatbelt, ejected from the vehicle and was struck by a southbound vehicle.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating this crash.
