Tornadoes in Minnesota

MINNESOTA - Powerful thunderstorms moved across southern Minnesota Tuesday evening and dropping tornadoes as well.

The Twin Cities National Weather Service office received multiple reports of a tornado occurring north of Garden City in Blue Earth County.

As the thunderstorm continued to track southeast, a trained weather spotter reported a tornado on the ground about 5 miles north of Mapleton.

Then about a quarter to 6:00pm, a weather spotter about four miles west of Waldorf or east of Mapleton reported a tornado on the ground.

The National Weather Service is planning on sending out a team to check tornado damage.  As that report comes in, we will have it posted.
