NORTHEAST, SOUTH DAKOTA - The National Weather Service is reporting that a tornado touched down on the east edge of Redfield during Thursday night's severe weather event.
Damage near E 8th Avenue in Redfield showed the first signs of tornado damage within the city. Several vehicles in the area had their windows damaged, and a trailer was flipped into a nearby cornfield.
Trees were knocked down, and a Farmer's Meat Processing building was damage. The twister took a path across a cornfield showing clear evidence that a tornado occurred according to the weather service office.
The tornado then continued a destructive path damaging a seed building, and bring several large trees tumbling to the ground. Tree and building debris was spread across the area near US Highway 212 and into a field north of the highway.
The office in Aberdeen has not given the tornado a rating at this time. Please keep checking back with DakotaRadar for updated information.
