SOUTH DAKOTA - A powerful winter storm is forecast to bring heavy rains and snows to South Dakota by the last half of this weekend. Winter Storm Warnings and Watches are already up for the potential of heavy snows and areas of blowing snow.
Snow, heavy at times will start across western, South Dakota as early as Saturday evening and into Sunday morning. The snow or rain will spread eastward into south-central, South Dakota by Saturday night or Sunday morning.
The southeast will start to see rain showers move into the region by Sunday and spread northward in central and east-central, South Dakota.
There remains a lot of uncertainty on the amounts of snow, but the potential is there for those in southwest, South Dakota to see about a foot of snow with even higher amounts across the Black Hills.
