South Dakota’s Weather is Always on Our Radar

Risk for Strong Storms

A cold front that will bring a change to our weather for this weekend and into next week will also bring a risk of severe thunderstorms.  Central and western regions of South Dakota are under the gun for severe thunderstorms later on this afternoon and into this evening.  More numerous severe thunderstorms are possible in far northwest, South Dakota and into western, North Dakota and southeast Montana.

At this time, large hail and gusty winds look to be the major threat with these storms.

The forecast is calling for dry conditions this morning with increasing chances of thunderstorms in western, South Dakota by this afternoon.  Things look to really get going at around 5pm to 6pm MDT and continue into the evening hours.  Getting closer to midnight tonight, it appears that the risk for thunderstorms moves into central, South Dakota.
