SOUTH DAKOTA - With new fresh snow on the ground and a powerful cold air mass, temperatures drop into record cold on Monday and Tuesday. East Rapid City saw it's coldest temperature on April 14th with an early morning temperature of 26 degrees, breaking it's 1928 record of 29 degrees.
On Monday, the same location saw a new record low temperature, dropping to 11 degree breaking 14 degree record from 1928.
South Dakota was not alone, Gillette, Wyoming falling to just 4 degree above zero Monday morning, breaking it's 1997 reocrd of 9 degree.
Don't worry, this will not last. A cool workweek this week will give way to much warmer temperatures next week.
