Numerous Crashes

Emergency personnel and law enforcement were busy with Thanksgiving travelers and Black Friday shoppers.  Roads across western, South Dakota became slippery caused many headaches for motorists and first responders.

This image posted by the Custer County Sheriff's Office on Facebook shows a two vehicle accident on State Highway 79 at State Highway 36 junction.  The agency stated that seven people were checked out for injuries, but nobody was transported to the hospital.

This crash on Interstate 90 near Rapid City shows what slippery and icy conditions motorists had to travel on today.  State troopers investigated this crash and luckily, nobody was injured.

Throughout the day, many law enforcement agencies across western, South Dakota were advising the public not to travel as ice covered roads made driving very difficult and dangerous.

Road conditions are expected to deteriorate across the state tonight and into Saturday.  The state of South Dakota is already planning on closing Interstate 90 in western, South Dakota tonight.  For more information about the closure, please visit our Interstate 90 Closing story.
