SOUTHWEST, SOUTH DAKOTA - Winter Storm Watches have been placed for the southwest ahead of the next storm system.

Later in the day on Wednesday, the first signs of the storm will push into the state. The precipitation will become more widespread to bring moderate to heavy snows to the region. Besides heavy snows, gusty winds are possible as well by Thursday, creating areas of reduce visibilities, blowing and drifting snow, and some travel issues.

The mostly likely region for accumulating snow by Thursday evening look to be over the southwest with moderate chances up towards the northeast and into east-central, South Dakota.  Lesser chances for the northwest, north-central and into the southeast.
