SOUTH DAKOTA - Fire crews continue to work hard on the Schroeder Fire with 94 percent perimeter containment reported yesterday evening.
On March 29th, the Schroeder Fire was detected about four miles east of Rapid City. Because of the dry conditions and high fire conditions, the fire quickly grew. Houses near the fire were threaten and those in the homes were evacuated. As of Thursday, most of the residences were allowed to return home.
Over 240 personnel have worked on the fire which has taken up over 2,200 acres.
Weather conditions the next couple of days will be dry and warm, with continued high fire danger. A storm system moving into the region by Monday night will help with chances of rain and even snow.
