BLACK HILLS, SOUTH DAKOTA - One isolated severe thunderstorm developed over the Black Hills' southern regions on Thursday afternoon. This storm brought massive hail to the size of tennis balls (2.50") about two miles west of Hayward.
The great faces of South Dakota also saw their share of large hail with ping pong (1.50") size hail reported at Mount Rushmore in Pennington County.
Ping pong size hail dropped from the storm about six miles southwest of Hermosa and five miles northwest of Fairburn in Custer County.
The storm began to weaken as it continued out of the Black Hills with smaller hail, the size of half dollars (1.25") reported about three miles southeast of Fairburn.
