NORTH DAKOTA - To the north of us in North Dakota, thunderstorms have developed across the northern half of the state bring hail, very strong damaging winds and even one brief funnel cloud.
Near the town of Churchs Ferry or northwest of Devils Lake, North Dakota, a PWIS weather station along Highway 2 recorded a peak wind gust of 101mph. Just towards the east, a short lived funnel cloud was observed in a persistent wall cloud.
Back towards the south near the town of Esmond, several one foot diameter or larger tree branches and limbs have been blown off trees along with dime to nickel size hail dropped from the storm.
These thunderstorms are forecast to continue up in North Dakota and may impact far northeast, South Dakota later on tonight.
