A very busy and active week for weather hits during the holiday week for South Dakota. A number of storm systems will bring wintry weather throughout the week and into Thanksgiving weekend.
Let's start with the first storm system that has prompted Winter Storm Warnings, Winter Weather Advisories and Winter Storm Watches for southern and eastern regions of the state.
A storm system coming out of Colorado will push snows into the southern and eastern areas of South Dakota starting as soon as tomorrow morning and continuing into Tuesday evening and during the overnight hours.
The snows will come to an end by early Wednesday morning giving us a break between systems. Another storm system looks to impact us on Thanksgiving and into the weekend. Additional information will be posted at a later date.
The heaviest snows from the first system looks to be over the southeast, South Dakota where Winter Storm Warnings are in effect. 7 to 11 inches of snow is expected with lesser amounts north and west. The northwest region of the state looks to sit out on this system.
