Heavy Snow for Northern Hills

Winter Storm Warnings and Winter Weather Advisories are in effect for the northern Black Hills and the northern foothills starting tomorrow evening and going through early Tuesday afternoon.

A weather disturbance will move into the region bring a chance of snow statewide with moderate to heavy snow to the northern Black Hills.  Upslope snow is expected to begin Monday evening and continuing into Tuesday.  Snow amounts of 6 to 12 inches are possible with some isolated higher amounts possible.

Across the foothills around Sturgis, snow amounts will be lighter with a forecast amount of three to six inches possible by Tuesday evening.

Besides heavy snows, strong north to northwest winds up to 40mph will create areas of blowing snow and reduce visibilities.
