Severe weather once again impacted the state bring large hail, damaging winds, tornadoes, heavy rain and flooding. Very strong thunderstorms formed over southwest, South Dakota during Wednesday afternoon and became widespread.
These thunderstorms brought very heavy rain with locations reporting over two inches. The Emergency Management at the Oglala Sioux Tribe reported flash flooding over roads in southwest, South Dakota. This image showed flooding occurring from Three Mile Creek Area east of Sharps Corner.
The agency warned motorists not to try to cross flooded roads and to call 911 if you needed assistance.

Oglala Sioux County was not alone in flood reports. In Custer County about 1 mile southwest of Dewey, the public reported flooding occurring on the Red Creek and was about four to five feet over the road. Flash flooding also occurred about 2 mile northwest of Nemo in Lawrence County. A trained weather spotter reported water was over the Box Elder Creek Road near the Box Elder Forks Campground.
