SOUTHERN, SOUTH DAKOTA - Early morning thunderstorms push across southern South Dakota, dropping hail up to the size of large apples.
At 4:00 am CDT this morning, hail three inches in diameter was reported in Rosebud. As the storm continued eastward, Gregory saw the next largest hail, the size of hen egg or two inches in diameter.
Plankinton did not see that size hail but still had its share of large hail. Golf ball size hail or 1.75 inch diameter hail was reported at 2:50 am CDT.
Quarter size hail or one inch in diameter were reported near Scotland, Burke, and in the city of Tyndall.
