Flooding Issues in the Southwest

SOUTHWEST, SOUTH DAKOTA - Spotty heavy rains caused some flooding issues and damage to the southwest areas of the state.

Ten miles northeast of Long Valley, just over seven inches of heavy rains have caused a 16-foot section of a culvert to begin washing out along SD Highway 44 at Fish Creek Road yesterday evening.

Near Manderson, Oglala Sioux Tribe Emergency Management reported water going over BIA Highway 33 Wednesday afternoon.

From yesterday evening, rainfall reports were 1.75 inches of rain just west of Kadoka and 2.27 inches 11 miles northeast of Wanblee.

Other reports towards the west were... 1.40 inches four miles west of Hermosa, 1.50 inches nine miles southwest of Jewel Cave and 2.40 inches about three miles northeast of Hisega or near Rapid City.
