Fire Crews Fight Wildland Fire

WEST-CENTRAL, SOUTH DAKOTA - Friday afternoon, fire crews with the Rockerville Volunteer Fire Department were dispatched to a wildland fire in central regions of the Black Hills.

The fire call that came in mid afternoon started near US Highway 16 in Pennington County.  Fire crews continued to work on the fire through the afternoon and into the evening hours.

By Friday evening, firefighters were able to get the flames under control and were planning on returning earlier today to work on hot spots.

The cause of the fire remains unknown.

The area remains under a Red Flag Warning as conditions remain dry and warm.
