SOUTH DAKOTAS WEATHER IS ALWAYS ON OUR RADAR

Crews Respond to Storm Damage

NORTHEAST, SOUTH DAKOTA - As storms did damage in Spink and Clark Counties, emergency crews in Deuel and Hamlin County respond to storm damage.

The Deuel County Sheriff's Office shared this photo on Facebook and advised State Highway 28 east of Interstate 29 was closed because of semi who was blown over from strong thunderstorm winds.  Along Interstate 29 northwest of this location, a MESONET Station recorded a thunderstorm wind gust of 75mph.

Back towards the west, the Hamlin County Sheriff's Office reported a number of trees and powerlines blown down throughout the county.  In Castlewood, a thunderstorm wind gust of 62mph was observed.  Near Hayti, a thunderstorm wind gust of 61mph was reported and 60mph winds along with pea to dime size hail was reported near the Hamlin Education Center.

In Watertown, multiple trees and branches were blown down across the city and some power outages were reported. An ASOS Station in Watertown recorded a strong gust of 75mph as the storms moved through the community.
