LAWRENCE COUNTY, SD - This evening brought some wild weather to west-central, South Dakota and all within one county.
A thunderstorm during the early evening hours brought hail almost to the size of pennies to the Spearfish area. The weather service stated they received a report from the public of 0.70 inch falling from the thunderstorm. Not too far away, a different story was going on. Heavy snow and reduce visibilities were reported south of the city.
The South Dakota Department of Transportation reported road conditions to have scattered slippery spots and requesting motorist to reduce their speed.
This cold front that brought hail, a severe thunderstorm warning, and a quick hit of heavy snows is forecast to continue to move east. The wild weather saw in western, South Dakota looks to stay west with only light rain or snow chances for tonight for the east.
Winds are forecast to be strong tonight and into tomorrow with Wind Advisories in effect.
