Survey Team Rates Lucas Tornado

Last Sunday, isolated strong and rotating thunderstorms developed over south-central, South Dakota dropping one confirmed tornado near Lucas, South Dakota. The damage survey team from the National Weather Service Office in Sioux Falls went to the scene and found damage to some trees along a shelter belt.  Luckily no injuries or damage to buildings occurred. Tornado Spotted near Platte

Another round a tornadoes has hit the state this afternoon, this time in south-central, South Dakota.  The public about 10 miles west of Platte reported a tornado on the ground at 4:28pm CDT, Sunday evening. Heat Causes Issues

Hot temperatures and high humidity created some issues yesterday.  The South Dakota Highway Patrol warned motorists on social media of Interstate 90 buckling because of the extreme heat.  At one point the interstate had to be shutdown until highway crews were able to fix the issue.
