Floodwaters continue to rise making officials close a good part of Interstate 90 earlier today.
Interstate 90 from US Highway 281 (Exit 310) to Interstate 29 in Sioux Falls was shut down, causing motorists to travel over 200 miles worth of detours. The state is asking travelers heading west on Interstate 90 to head north on Interstate 29 to US Highway 14 in Brookings. From there, take US Highway 14 west through Huron and connect with US Highway 281. At US Highway 281, motorist then would head south until they reach Interstate 90.
Authorities are allowing local traffic only between Mt. Vernon (Exit 319) to Bridgewater (Exit 357) as well as Humboldt (Exit 379) to Sioux Falls.
