South Dakota’s Weather is Always on Our Radar

30 Minutes of Large Hail

A trained weather spotter in Custer County located in west-central, South Dakota reported a severe thunderstorm that dropped large hail for a long period of time.  Shortly after 2pm MDT, a weather spotter located 5 miles northwest of Fairburn reported a thunderstorm that dropped hail to the size of ping pong (1.50").  The event last for 32 minutes doing damage throughout the area.

Other places like 6 miles west of Hermosa, hail to the size of half dollars (1.25") was reported a weather observation site and just outside of town, Lime size hail (2.00") pounded the ground.
