The next storm system forecast to impact the region will start to push precipitation into South Dakota by later on today and into tonight.  A narrow band of heavy snow is forecast to set up from Eagle Butte/Gettysburg back towards Redfield/Huron and into the Watertown/Brookings areas.  Generally, five to eight inches of snow is expected to fall by Sunday morning with some isolated high amounts up to ten inches possible.

South-central and southwest, South Dakota look to receive the minimum impacts with snow amounts remaining under one inch. In the northwest, snow accumulations of three to six inches are possible and into the southeast, amounts under three inches.

After the storm system moves eastward, northwest winds are forecast to increase, creating areas of blowing and drifting snow.  If you are planning on travel later on today and into Sunday, plan on winter weather conditions and allow extra time.
